Tree Care

Many of the trees in the Bay Area are in rapidly declining health, which is linked to fire suppression and subsequent soil acidification and mineral depletion.  This weakens and sickens the trees, and makes them prone to infection of fungus and insects. ‘Sudden Oak Death’ is just one example of many diseases today killing off whole populations of trees.  Our efforts to solve the problem focus on boosting the fertility of the soils with natural, mineral-rich fertilizers so that the trees are healthier and better able to survive attacks by diseases and pests. We are seeing most of the declining oaks respond very well to the application of soil mineral fertilizers and limewash, without using any toxic fungicides or insecticides.
